CATTLE DECAPITATION frontman to make appearance on new SOULFLY album!


CATTLE DECAPITATION vocalist TRAVIS RYAN has recently recorded vocals for the new SOULFLY album due early 2012 on ROADRUNNER RECORDS. Travis recorded his portion of the vocals at Frick'in Studios in San Marcos, CA with engineer Dan Frick and the result was extremely positive.

"Its an honor to receive a call from someone you had pictures of on your wall as a kid asking you to be on a new album of theirs. I literally had a picture of Max and Gloria holding Richie in her arms that I ripped out of a copy of Metal Maniacs on my wall when I was 15 or 16. Now they're asking for my artistic hand in one of their creations, just doesn't get much more surreal than that. Very honored and the song is very "death metal-ish" and completely crushes. Happy to be a part of it!"

The producer of Soulfly's new album, ZEUSS (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, The Red Chord) responded to the delivery of Travis' tracks saying "The vocals f*cking rule!!!! Fits the song perfect... Very refreshing for me to hear these days."


CATTLE DECAPITATION recently announced the status of their new album writing process and will be entering Flatline Audio Studios in Denver, CO in January to record. Cattle Decapitation new album writing update announcement! (Video available)

In November 2010 Cattle Decapitation returned home from headlining The California Blood Tour and decided to take the next year off and immediately began writing the follow up to their critically-acclaimed 2009 release “The Harvest Floor”.

The band has been holed up in the confines of their rehearsal studio in National City, California ever since and are preparing to unleash a new slab of human-dissecting carnage for a Spring 2012 release via Metal Blade Records. The band will be recording in January/February in Denver, Colorado at FLATLINE AUDIO with producer/engineer DAVE OTERO (Cephalic Carnage, Catheter, Trivium) and will play a small handful of shows on the way out to Denver showcasing their new material.

Artist WES BENSCOTER is again on board to deliver more breathtaking GOREgeousness to the album cover as he has done on our past 4 releases. We will be announcing the album title, cover image and concept in the next few months.

Here’s what guitarist Josh Elmore has to say about the new material:
"As it comes down to the home stretch before recording, we have been focusing on getting the last two songs written as well as refining and tightening the tracks which are already completed. The overwhelming impression I get from this new batch of tunes is that they have benefitted greatly from a more streamlined approach to composition and song structure. A lot of these songs are very "to-the-point" with just enough embellishment to keep them dynamic, whilst avoiding sinking into some bells-and-whistles mire. Lean and mean.

There will be no forays in 8-string djentiness and none of us bought v-neck shirts or deck shoes to "modernize" our sound and look, respectively. Expect some riffy, ripping blackened deathgrind with nods to our past work and tastes of what's to come. These songs are going to be a blast to play live and we are anxious to have these recorded and get on the road to play them for you."

Cattle Decapitation, in conjunction with IndieMerchCo, are pleased to announce "THE CALIFORNIA BLOOD TOUR!!!"  
Featuring bands mostly hailing from California, the tour will be headlined by CATTLE DECAPITATION and sees DEVOURMENT (TX) rearing its ugly head plus searing acts such as KNIGHTS OF THE ABYSS, fellow San Diegans BURNING THE MASSES and newcomers SON OF AURELIUS.  Select dates also feature Sacramento's SLAUGHTERBOX and San Diego's own purveyors of brutality, CONDEMNED.

This will be Cattle Decapitation's final US tour for the "Harvest Floor" record, as the band will commence the writing of their 5th Metal Blade release at the end of the year. 

Cattle Decapitation vocalist Travis Ryan had this to say about the tour:

"We've had this idea for a tour that was mostly comprised of California bands for quite a while now. I don't know, there was just something about the term "California love" (popularized by 2Pac Shakur) that never quite sat right with us so we came up with something a little more fitting, considering the level of brutality that California has always had under its belt. From the seedy sewers in the big cities to the "Cowshwitz" communities of central CA to the inhospitable depravity of the dry desert, we decided it was time to show the rest of the US that CaliGOREnia is not just about hippies, silicone bodies and marijuana dispensaries (not that there's anything wrong with that, haha!)... This is CALIFORNIA BLOOD!"

Cattle Decapitation announce upcoming TOUR PLANS, departure of bassist Troy Oftedal and more...

*It is time to announce a few things that have been going on in the Cattle Decapitation camp. First off, we have officially parted ways with bassist Troy Oftedal due to musical and personal differences. There is no bad blood and we wish him the best of luck. Filling in on upcoming tours will be our friend Rahsaan Davis. You may have seen him on our recent tour as Troy left tour early due to a physical ailment.

On to tours… We’ll be hitting the road in late September with Soulfly, Prong and Mutiny Within for a US tour! Starting in our neck of the woods, the tour will lead us across the country, along the east coast and back home. We have a handful of dates already and there are more on the way!

We’re also working on dates for a EUROPEAN tour! We expect that it will happen in the early winter months and we’ll keep you posted on that… Check back to our websites for details as they unfold!

Don't Kill The Animals - Nebelhexe and Jarboe (also featuring Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation)

This is a re-make of the 80's hit by Nina Hagen and Lene Lovich. Nebelhexe says she always loved the song and the message, and thus really wanted to do a modern cover version of it. She wants to remind us of a great song and a great message. She thus invited US artist Jarboe (ex-Swans) to join the project. Jarboe suggested Travis Ryan from Vegan death-metal band Cattle Decapitation to be a part of it as well. The song was arranged in the studio of Daniel Hill, who also plays with the electro-pop act Magenta. The result is a catchy club version that surely will fill many dance-floors as well as raise awareness for the ethical treatment of animals.

Vocalist Travis Ryan comments on the video: “The band recorded it in a real butcher shop in Santa Paula, CaliGOREnia. We were contacted by a fan on MySpace saying we should use his family owned butcher shop. Knowing perfectly well that we could easily make a butcher shop or a slaughterhouse look like a human slaughterhouse, we had to jump at the chance. We shot all day in there and by the end of the shoot it smelled like death. The end result is pretty disturbing which is of course, exactly what we intended.”
